Despite being a small organisation we work in partnership with many other groups, including the BBC. As part of the BBC's support for IT learning in the community BBC Look North is starting to carry details about where the various computer buses in the region will be found on the weather map. To announce this change and to tie in with the picture opportunity that the support for the York Viking Festival offered, Look North came and filmed us, dressed as vikings working on the bus. If you would like to see the clip you can download the clip here. Please note that the copyright of this material remains with the BBC and we are using it with permission. You may need to download a quick time player as well. You can download either version here.
MatheMagic is a small organisation with big ideas. We believe that everyone can do maths, indeed everyone does do maths in their everyday life, they just don't think of it as maths!
In fact one of the most common things that we hear is 'I can't do Maths, but I can do this, so this can't be Maths' but actually we tell everyone that they can do Maths, they can do this, and it really is Maths.
Did you know that over half the top 10 popular science books are in fact
maths books or maths-related. They include
The Code Book (Simon Singh)
The Science of Secrecy (Simon Singh)
The Nothing that Is (Robert Kaplan)
E=mc² (David Bodanis)
Just Six Numbers (Martin Rees)

We have just become involved in an innovative new project for an interactive science centre in York. Details are still sketchy, but we ran a pilot project in the Guildhall, and we are now looking for funding to run a ScienceBus project to enable us to provide interactive science out in the community.
